Like any great piece of art, the themes explored by The Grip Weeds in this concept album are universal, yet there is plenty of room for the listener to insert themselves into the proceedings. But in many ways, this album is very different and worthy of fresh attention. How I Won the War took me a while to get into. To fully appreciate this concept album I had to devote undistracted attention and listening to a variety of formats CD , wav and mp3 in different settings the home stereo, the computer, and car stereo. There is a lot to discover and unfold, much of it subtle, and a casual listen will simply not suffice.
