The Space Between Us is the debut solo album by Craig Armstrong, originally released in 1998 on Melankolic Records. Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins contributes vocals to the track This Love, and The Blue Nile's Paul Buchanan appears on Let's Go Out Tonight, which is a rework of the song of the same name by Blue Nile. The first track, Weather Storm, is a reworking of a song by the same name which appears on Massive Attack's 1994 album, Protection, to which Armstrong contributed. Similarly, Sly. Dramatic and mesmerising in equal measure, this classical masterpiece was inspired by the Hubble Space Telescope, and its greatest discovery, The Deep Fields images showing remote galaxies that give us clues about how the universe evolved. Released in 2016 via Decca Records, this ambient album penned by Greek composer Vangelis was dedicated to the Rosetta space probe mission, which launched in 2004. We couldn't talk about space and music in the same breath without mentioning Strausss sublime Also Sprach Zarathustra, which flips the script and provides a stunning example of space inspired by music. The album is one of the modes greatest achievements, finding space for both fractured fairy tales and 10-minute interstellar freakouts while making both sound equally mind-altering and frightening. It also makes a tragic hero out of the troubled, brilliant, and ultimately doomed Barrett. In 1969, Columbia Records was looking for classical LPs that might capture the imagination of the young audience, and Terry Riley was uniquely suited to the task. The singer appeared absent during the height of the British Invasion, making movies that held little interest for him or his audience. Culture Club made its second album with the same producer Steve Levine and at the same studio Red Bus Studios, in London it had used for its debut. George attributes the band's improvement from the tropical pop of Kissing to Be Clever to the input of outside musicians, notably keyboardist Phil Pickett, who co-wrote two songs with the band, and singer Helen Terry, who electrifies several tracks. He wrote a song for The Wiz sang on, co-wrote and arranged David Bowie's Young Americans in 1975 toured as a background singer with Bette Midler, Chaka Khan and Carly Simon recorded albums as a member of three. Astronaut Scott Kelly, who grew about 2 inches during his nearly one year stay on the International Space Station, is back to his normal height, his identical twin brother, Mark, said Thursday. Scott Kelly, whose spine elongated while he spent 340 days in space, took less than two days to shrink. Mark Kelly, a former astronaut, told CNN's Erin Burnett OutFront by email that the two went back-to-back an hour after his brother returned to the United States early Thursday. We are the channel dedicated to classical themes on the , the album touches on everything from space travel to ancient rituals to the ecology, homing in on man's arrogance and ignorance. And then there's Supper's Ready, which most fans consider the ultimate Genesis song, if not the apotheosis of prog rock. His voice would never sound better, and he was possibly at the height of his instrumental prowess: the obligatory flute, the always-impressive acoustic guitar chops and, for this album, the cheeky employment of a soprano saxophone. It's a gamble andor a conceit, depending upon one's perspective that pays off splendidly: a difficult, occasionally confrontational, utterly fulfilling piece of work. Space is the place, he said think further away, and let yourself be free to celebrate the majesty of the universe. This isnt his most abstract work it sort of drifts in and out of correct jazz. Sometimes its like a slightly wonky big band is playing almost functional music, and at other times it seems to be totally free from any tradition or rules. by Talking Heads, Ramones, Blondie et al in favour of abstraction, negative space, dismantled structures and downright tunelessness. The resulting coinage no wave further defines their anti-style a nihilistic yelp emanating from a trash-ridden Downtown still years away from yuppification.
