Reverend Billy C. Wirtz born William McLean Wirths in 1954 is an American blues musician, comedian and writer. His material consists of comedy routines set to music. William Wirths was born in Aiken, South Carolina, United States. His father worked for the United States Atomic Energy Commission, and his mother was a writer and sociologist who worked to reform the police department. The family moved to Washington, D. when William was eight years old. The Reverend calls this album Wilson Pickett meets Jim Nabors meets Frank Zappa just don't call it wacky and compare it to Weird Al Certainly not Weird Al at least holds up to repeated listenings in most cases. Save your money for Wirtz's live show where the jokes don't get told twice, one suspects. Sermon From Bethlehem - Reverend Billy C. Find the latest tracks, albums, and images from Reverend Billy C. Mixing gospel-and-blues-inspired piano playing with a flair for comedic lyrical turns, the Reverend Billy C. Wirtz isn't your typical Sunday preacher. If you can imagine the boogie rock abilities of Jerry Lee Lewis combined with the Southern comedic wit of Jeff Foxworthy, then you can kind of get an idea of the types of sermons Wirtz preaches. Wirtz's tongue is as sharp as a razor and his humorous take on things is just a impressive as his piano skills.
