Chillhunter
Hi there,Excuse me from posting in each box set, but I am looking to see where I'll get a response from first. In regards to the box, I am not really interested in the box or bonuses besides the singles themselves. So my question is, should I purchase the original releases, or are these the better purchase?
Forcestalker
It seems like they are so hard to even tell them apart, I wouldn't know if I were getting the originals or represses :(
Adrietius
Go for the originals! German Intercord pressings or original Mute UK sound best...
Ceroelyu
It absolutely makes no sense to release the same 12inch vinyls "faithfully" all over and over without adding all the fantastic bonus tracks from the CD Singles. The corresponding CD singles always had nice additional tracks from that time, so why now, on the "complete" A Broken Frame record Box, the bonus tracks still are missing from vinyl? It don't get the logic behind it, i's a shame. Mute would sell much more of the greatly designed boxes by including all missing official 12inch bonus tracks.
Dondallon
The Vinyl of the song "See You" sounds in MONO.
Cha
For me its seems really mono rec..other side is fine, see you originally balanced and monitorized for center, but some fine details are speaks more, even if you dont mind with the lack of dynamic missing ( sometimes it means you loss one channel ). IMHO its true mono, fckn rarity ☺
Bundis
cristoro The Vinyl of the song "See You" sounds in MONO. Did anyone double check this? I can’t believe the DM camp would pull the mono card of shame again.
Twentyfirstfinger
Can someone verify if Leave In Silence has the canvas textured sleeve like the original ?
Jark
Yes, leave in silence is textured.... sure. yes and yes.
Saintrius
Yes, it's textured just like the original. A very good job too!
Kanal
After finding an unboxing vid apparently it is textured like the original - which is nice.
Deeroman
Hey, y'all looking forward to the Construction Time Again box?Seeing that DM only released two singles (Everything Counts / Love In Itself) from that LP, what else can we expect? All three L12 live 12"? A bit much, no?
net rider
Unless something goes wacky, yes. I already approved the test pressings for the 12 and the L12.
fabscf
Hey BRATMix, can you confirm if Get The Balance Right! (Combination Mix) will be featured in the CTA box?
Hugighma
There were no limited 12" singles for Speak And Spell or A Broken Frame. Can't include what did not originally exist.
Perilanim
there were NO L12 in the first boxes, hence it's not there. The future boxes will include all L12 and even XL12s. Confirmed by Daniel Barassi, longtime DM webmaster, archiver, remixer.
Asher
There weren’t any limited 12”s for the first two albums anyway. The first one to be released was Get the Balance Right!
Watikalate
All the L12 and XL12 releases will be in the future boxes, There were no L12 for the singles in these particular boxes
Nikojas
Also, once we get to Songs Of Faith And Devotion the outhouse remixes really take over from actual b-sides.Are fans going to be willing to shell out for a bunch of remixes that they never really liked anyway?I get the feeling the series may conclude with Violator, and yes it could indeed be a 9x12" tome!
Delari
And when we get to Violator, all 4 singles had L12Bong versions and "Enjoy The Silence" actually had an XLBONG version as well. That's 9x12's! Things might get real expensive..
Mardin
I agree, I think it would be better to include Get The Balance Right. If the three L12 live singles are added instead, that's a 5x12" set. I doubt the price will remain the same as it was for S&S / ABF...
Andromathris
Jarren Hey, y'all looking forward to the Construction Time Again box?Seeing that DM only released two singles (Everything Counts / Love In Itself) from that LP, what else can we expect? All three L12 live 12"? A bit much, no? I love the three L12 live singles - but since DM did not include the L12 in the two first box sets, they will probably not be found in the upcoming boxes ;-(
Nalme
My guess is they'll probably add "Get The Balance Right". The 3x L12 live would be nice too!
Umor
I received the box this weekend, I listened to them a lot and this is my review. The packaging, box and cover are impeccable. The vinyls too. The issue that worries me a little is "the sound". Yes, they sound good, but not as much as I expected. It has too much "digital flavor". Yes, it is a more open and more powerful sound, but, yes, it is "too powerful" and sometimes it feels a bit distorted. It completely lost that "analog" feeling of the original vinyls. Sometimes it sounds too bright, as if they had done a cutting with a 16 bit CD. But hey, for collectors and fans of the band like me is fine. But if you expect to buy them to be able to listen to an "audiofilic experience" better do not do it. The best? The download in wav 16bit, especially the version of "Leave In Silence (Quieter)", sound very good. In summary, the best of these editions are, 1- The boxes and covers and 2. your digital download in wav to 16 bits. Well, for fans like me it's fine. Haha.
Teonyo
My impression is that the vinyl with the orange A had more treble on cymbal. Anyone else feels the same?
Nalmergas
If you were to "A/B test" the original Mute 12" singles to these new ones, you would hear no difference. An Instagram video doesn't showcase fine audio fidelity, but you can see that these sets were manufactured with reference to the original pressings: https://www.instagram.com/p/BlD1KcgDW1b/?taken-by=fishureprice (ignore my neighbor banging at the end - I test these records very loudly). The records were cut with higher-than-16 bit audio files, and do not have a "digital flavor" (wouldn't that be "flavour") to them. You are entitled to your opinion, but as I am the one in charge of the audio for these boxes, no...they do not sound digital. They sound exactly like the original records sounded. This reminds me when people were raving about the Blu-Spec CD reissues. I ripped a Blu-Spec, and a 2006 remaster, of Exciter. I threw both into Pro Tools, inverted one...and silence. They were absolutely identical, bit for bit. People swore up and down that they were worlds apart in sound, and how the Blu-Spec was "warmer". Nope. Just a different delivery method.
WinDImmortaL
Big scratchs on Oberkorn :-( So sad. Shame to kill an issue like this with a bad pressing.
Kazimi
Does anyone know the total number of these produced? I have # 11,677.
