Mongrel is the third studio album by American rock band the Bob Seger System, released in 1970. During its four-week run on the Billboard 200 chart, the album entered the chart at the end of October 1970, then rose to number 171 two weeks later. Rolling Stone reviewed Mongrel on January 7, 1971. Ben Edmonds called the album . easily best work to date, but there are still some crucial musical problems he must come to grips with if he is to realize the tremendous potential he displayed on. I do not own the copyright to this recording. Line-up, Musicians Bob Seger - lead guitar, Seger Mongrel LP. Never before, and never since, has Seger rocked as recklessly and viciously as he did here. Not Bob Seger. He reasserted control of the System, consigning Tom Neme to a fanboy's footnote, and returning the group to the piledriving rock that was his trademark. All of this was evident with his third album, the superb Mongrel. Never before, and never since, has Seger rocked as recklessly and viciously as he did here - after a spell in the wilderness, he's found his voice. Bob Seger sports one of the most mysterious catalogs of any major rock star, but have no fear we've sorted it all out for you. He released his first album in 1969, breathing fire as the frontman for the Bob Seger System, a group of barnstorming Detroit garage rockers. Before his career started to turn a corner with the more reflective heartland rock of 1975s Beautiful Loser , hed made seven records that most of his fans will never hear. Never mind downloads, theyve never even been on CD. It appears to be possible that it is Seger himself who keeps them hidden away. Though they contain some of his finest moments, he has stated that he has no desire to see them reissued.
